Dance & debate
A strong culture of public debate
The dance world with its many forms of expression has always known a strong culture of debate. Danshuis Station Zuid creates opportunities to participate in this debate with a series of options for the theatres centred around our performances. We are putting flesh on this concept through our introductions, dance duologues, debates/talkshows and our lectures.

Introduction
Prior to a Danshuis Station Zuid performance, our dance maker/choreographer or another dance specialist will give an introduction outlining the subject matter and theme of the performance, the work process, and places it in context, supported with DVD images, if possible.

Dance-duologues
Sometimes this introduction can be expanded to include a so-called dance-duologue at the venue or the festival where the Danshuis-ensemble is performing. An interviewer will lead the conversation between the dance makers, a prominent figure in dance from the region, and/or dance experts. Audiences can participate by asking questions or making remarks. This will help visitors watch the performance from a fresh perspective and with more knowledge. This form of interactive information can be inserted anywhere, even with the addition of the Mobile Dance House .

Debate/talkshow
There will be public debates around our performances or series of performances. A panel of artists and dancers who have been involved in the performance, thinkers, and scholars will share their ideas along a number of relevant themes. Members of the press and audience members will be able to participate in these interactive talkshows.

Lecture
Around a performance we will invite leading dance makers/dance experts to give thematic lectures to place our presentation in a wider context. The speaker’s uniqueness will guarantee stimulating points of view and hot debate. And it will inspire our visitors to see the dance world afresh as a fascinating part of their own, more extensive world.
