Danshuis Station Zuid: a Junction for Movements in Contemporary Dance

Danshuis Station Zuid, based in the Dutch South, has grown into a junction for the different movements in the world of contemporary dance. All kinds of different movements in international dance join up here, in this breeding ground for professional talent. From the fusion we create artistically high-level dance performances for the stage, that will inspire and move a wide audience.

This central station for professional dance makers and dance amateurs from all creative corners of the world is situated in the heart of Tilburg, City of Dance. It is anchored within the European Dance Network of similar dance houses, from Central Europe to Scandinavia. So Danshuis Station Zuid is able to draw from a meltingpot of international development, exchange, experience, research and experiments in contemporary dance.

Artistic Explorations

This is the place where ambitious dancers and choreographers book their artistic explorations, internationally inspired but aimed at the Dutch stages. It is also the place where professional dance makers meet the amateur field. From here they start up dance events that fan out across the South of the Netherlands and far beyond. And this is where they use their experience to offer talent development, coaching and stage education to up-and-coming dancers. It is time to get better acquainted. Because Danshuis Station Zuid wants to make itself heard and seen and to make people experience how much dance has to offer to new audience groups, both in the theatres and outside them.

A Dance House on a Mission

Everything at Danshuis Station Zuid is about integrating dance and audiences, and getting audiences to participate in dance. About motivating people within the context of artistic practice by getting them involved in every way possible. For instance in face to face encounters with our choreographers, dancers, artists from other disciplines, and experts. Or through the many activities that Danshuis Station Zuid presents at its railroadshows  in collaboration with theatres, festivals, art institutions and many more cultural partners.
