The Mobile Dance House, the place to be for dance
Commissioned by Danshuis Station Zuid, Belgian design group
B-Architecten has developed the Mobile Dance House, a nomadic
accommodation with two separate spaces in striking inflatable domes.
With its intimate theatre and its space for a theatre/dance bar, the Mobile Dance House will set up close to the city’s theatre or elsewhere in a public space. Its mobile theatre with a stage facility offers about 80 seats. It can also be set up as for example a space for a debate, an exhibit, a workshop or a rehearsal. This temporary accommodation will easily harbour masterclasses, debates, art house film viewings, dance exhibitions or dance encounters, and other cultural projects.
Fanning Out Across the City
The Mobile Dance House will at least
travel to the nine core cities within Danshuis Station Zuid’s primary
region. In no particular order these cities are Tilburg, Eindhoven,
Breda, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Middelburg, Weert, Heerlen, Venlo and
Maastricht. Offering a host of dance activities and a unique series of
intimate performances it will be tapping into new audiences for dance
in each of these cities.
Ever Expanding Audience Groups
In
consultation with the local cultural creatives we will be setting up
and presenting a dance programme for each city we visit that will
organically fuse with current local activities. Our aim is to establish
a link with dance activities in the theatres that will thus fan out
across the city in order to intensify the experience of dance for ever
expanding audience groups. Discovery, experience, creation, discussion
and activity are the key terms in our Mobile Dance House formula.
Making Culture Accessible
Responding
to local events, such as performances at the theatre, festivals, or
cultural/other events, the Mobile Dance House can be used anywhere and
in countless ways. With its striking appearance it will draw attention
as a place to be, where culture is expressed and enjoyed in a highly
accessible way.
