Creation of the European Dancehouse Network (EDN) Association in Barcelona. Successor to the EDN network, the association will have its headquarters at Mercat de les Flors.
The directors of 18 dance houses of Europe assembled in Barcelona on 25th and 26th May. The meeting has concluded with the creation of the EDN (European Dancehouse Network) association, which gives legal status to the existing relationship between them. The new association, which will have its headquarters at Mercat de les Flors and which will be chaired by Bertram Müller (Tanzhaus NRW Düsseldorf), has the main goal of promoting the establishment of support structures for dance and its creators. Formed by individuals and legal entities devoted to the renewal and development of dance, the EDN association pursues, among other objectives, the improvement of the structures, artistic contents and processes of its members; the creation of a platform of permanent dialogue among its members on artistic, organisational, cultural, social and political aspects relating to dance; the promotion of educational initiatives in the field of dance, the creation of new audiences and the support of the dialogue with other art forms.
In addition to Mercat de les Flors, the EDN association is formed by the following institutions and entities: ADC (Geneva, Switzerland), Arts Station Foundation (Poznan, Poland), CND (Pantin, France), CND (Toulouse, France), Contemporary Dance Trust-The Place, (London, United Kingdom), Dance-Gate (Cyprus), Dansens Hus (Oslo, Norway), Dansens Hus (Stockholm, Sweden), Dansescenen (Copenhagen, Denmark), DDRC (Athens, Greece), DeVIR/CAPa (Faro, Portugal), Europäisches Zentrum der Künste Hellerau (Dresden, Germany), Maison de la Danse (Lyon, France), Danshuis Station Zuid (Tilburg, the Netherlands), Tanzhaus NRW (Düsseldorf, Germany) and Tanzquartier (Vienna, Austria).
