EDN Barcelona
We have further strengthened Danshuis Station Zuid’s artistic network with the recent setting up of the European Dancehouse Network (EDN) association. This has given the EDN the formal status required for the many shared activities and exchanges we are planning. Foremost among these is the shared support in Europe of dance and dance makers/practitioners in the widest sense.
The association was established at the homebase of our colleagues at dance house Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona, which now also houses the association’s secretariat. As our chairman we have named Bertrand Müller, director at Tanzhaus Nordrhein Westfalen in Düsseldorf, also known as the ‘mother of all European dance houses’.
EDN: an Unequalled Network of Inspiration and Exchange
Danshuis Station Zuid (DSZ) is now connected to 18 similar centres for dance makers in Germany, the UK, Norway, France, Austria, Switzerland, Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, and Spain. They form a network of inspiration, exchange and mutual influence that is unequalled anywhere in the dance world.
The State of Dance in Europe
The Southern Dutch dance house is the Dutch-Flemish node in this network where countless developments converge that are important to professional dance makers, performers, allied artists and countless amateurs involved in dance. As a part of this network DSZ and its participants can profit from the rich traditions and many dance innovations elsewhere in Europe, a meltingpot of international expertise and ‘couleur locale’. We will soon be drawing up the European ‘State of Dance’, possibly with an EDN conference to be hosted in Tilburg.
