One Day Workshop
Our One Day Workshop offers amateur dancers and their teachers an unparalleled overall experience around a Danshuis Station Zuid performance. Our ballet master and dancers will come to the participating organisation’s accommodation, e.g. dance schools, ballet schools, educational institutions or creative centres. The day will start with a technical class. This will be a warming up for the muscles, and the distinctive combinations of movements will create a wonderful dance flow that will focus concentration and physical alertness. This lesson will segue into a workshop in which the amateurs will set to work on parts of the repertoire from the performance in question.
In the artists’ shoes
Through short composition-assignments
participants will step into the artists’ shoes to explore how they
could change, expand, or refine the dance material. Then they will
present the results to each other. After so much hard work there is
time for a little breather during a thematic lecture that will focus
completely on the performance they will see later on in the day.
Backstage Tour
This
concludes the active part of the One Day Workshop after which the
participants will move on and go to the theatre where they will receive
a backstage tour. They will be able to see the dancers perform their
final preparations: stretching their bodies, warming up the muscles and
going over the steps one more time. Next, as the rest of the audience
walks in, they will take the seats that have been reserved for them;
cue lights! From the first movement and the opening sounds they will
recognize the dancers’ concentration, their complete surrender until
the curtain falls, an experience they have after all shared for the
whole day. To be so completely involved in a performance will give the
participating amateurs and their teachers an unparalleled and
creatively inspiring dance experience.
