As the Artistic Director for Danshuis Station Zuid, Marc Vlemmix is at the base of every plan and activity within our dance house. Under his leadership Danshuis Station Zuid, starting from nowhere, has over the past few years evolved into a major junction within the Southern dance world, expressing international ambitions.

Marc was born on 15 June 1972, and is a born Southerner (Asten). After secondary school he completed a course in Design & Communication, while also qualifying for his certificates in marketing NIMA A and B. He then went on to study Art & Culture Studies at the Rotterdam Erasmus university.

Even before he had graduated Vlemmix was hired (in 1997) as a programmer for Musis Sacrum/ Schouwburg Arnhem. In 2005 he started as the director of the newly established Danshuis Station Zuid in Tilburg.

His administrative experience comprises such posts as chairman of the advisory committee for the Rotterdam summer festivals and board member on the advisory committees for the Fonds voor Podiumprogrammering en Marketing (Dutch fund for stage programming and marketing, The Hague) and the culture committee for the Province of Gelderland (Arnhem). He also sat on the programming committee for the Nederlandse Dansdagen festival, the VSCD dance jury, the jury for the Charlotte Köhler award, and he was a member of the steering committee for the joint promotion of dance.
