Václav Kuneš
function: choreograaf
Václav Kuneš’ journey started in the Czech Republic, where he studied at the Prague Dance Academy. In 1993 he started his professional career with the Nederlands Dans Theater. He has danced in choreographies by the greatest choreographers including Kylián, Forsythe, Van Manen and Naharin. Since 1999 he has been active as a choreographer in addition to his work as a dancer. For Station Zuid’s 2007 double bill programme ‘Mind the Gap’ Kuneš created ‘Wishes and Fears’. Before this Kuneš had created ‘First Pages’ for Danshuis Station Zuid, a laboratory project for three dancers combined with images by visual artists Paul and Menno de Nooijer from Zeeland. On Sunday 6 May 2007 Václav Kuneš’ dance piece Neen-Ya had its Dutch première for Danshuis Station Zuid at the ‘s Hertogenbosch Theater aan de Parade.
Václav Kuneš on Danshuis Station Zuid:
"What appeals to me most in this new dance house, is the idea of a train station. A meeting point where paths cross and where people exchange ideas and dreams. Encounters that are one off experiences or that change your life. Where one thing is certain: people will come and go, but the place itself will remain unchanged.
It makes me think of my train journey a little while ago, when I first met Stephen. After our talk, we each went our separate ways for now. But we will see each other again soon and continue our talk, because we share a destination: Danshuis Station Zuid."
