OPEN HOUSE DAYS 15, 16 en 17 October 2010
Five years ago, we formulated a dream which is realized in this house: an inspirational (inter) national meeting and workspace for the dance. A great new place in a renovated factory: light, transparent and generous with everything under one roof. A dance company that has its doors wide open for makers and dancers from far and wide. The dance lover is frequently invited to attend rehearsals and public presentations.
During the open house on Saturday 16 and Sunday, October 17, we have various activities such as workshops for amateurs and professionals, exhibitions, open rehearsals, presentations, symposium, the talk show Zondagdans and other activities. Experience the workings of a House Dance for yourself! We would really appreciate it if you this special moment to share with us.

*Symposium
During the symposium, Danshuis Station Zuid explains and questions functioning as a Dance House in the European perspective of the European Dance House Network (EDN). The key question is how a landscape, the architecture of a "dance house" and users together, converse and interact.
Guest speakers include Dirk Engelen (B-architecten, Antwerpen), Bertram Muller (artistic director Tanzhaus NRW Dusseldorf), Eddie Nixon (Artistic Director, The Place, London), Herwig Onghena (business manager, les Ballets C. de la B., Gent) and Marc Vlemmix (Artistic Director, Danshuis Station Zuid).
*Jong Zuid
Jussi Nousiainen, Jesús de Vega Gómez, Joost Vrouenraets and Itamar Serussi Sahar have made a evening filling program of duets for Danshuis Station Zuid. The foursome cherish the duet as one of the crown jewels of the dance: two bodies, black and white, light and dark, attracting and repelling, bonding and separation, the purity of human relationships reversed.
Jesús de Vega Gómez (Spain, 1974) works with Jussi Nousiainen (Finland, 1972) on Shut Quietly, Almost. Their duet reflects the tension between the impulsive, physical theatrical world of Jesús and the more elusive, imaginary world of Jussi. Using video, light, movement and music, the makers lure the public inside its own universe.
House Choreographer Serussi Itamar (Israel, 1978) sees dance as an evolutionary journey that never ends. His duet Ferrum begins with two dancers and al dance poem. Then comes the game with unusual compositions and physical limits with the confidence that something new is revealed. Serussi hopes to transfer the excitement that bubbles up in the studio to the public.
For dancer-choreographer Joost Vrouenraets (Netherlands, 1979) does the duet (S)NOW where he returns to the essence of dance, close to himself. In (S)NOW we see a man and a woman around a little black house. The man wants to progress, the woman looks back. The duet turns into a tragic clash between past and future. The duo is unable to find each other in the now.
*Workshop BASE4DANCE
Andrew Greenwood (Ballet Master/Artistic Coordinator) and Ryan Lawrence (Dance Physiotherapist), presents for the first time a workshop BASE4DANCE. Using the method BASE4DANCE, become aware of the correct movement patterns. Find out how you can change your physical consciousness. Encourage your dancing methodology with a sense of peace and stability. With an increased awareness of your movements, health and fitness you can achieve a higher level. Learn to move efficiently and safely is the goal of BASE4DANCE method.
*Go With That Flow
Go With The Flow offers an unforgettable stage experience for anyone, a project developed by the amateur dance workshops Brabant. Continuing on the theme - see, do and do not - learn from participating dance amateurs and professionals to dance to their own repertoire of material from performances by Danshuis Station Zuid. They integrate this based on their specific capabilities and limitations in their movement repertoire in order to enrich their dance language.
After a short and intensive study programs, a presentation will take place, if desired, before or after the relevant performance in the theater. Due to success, Danshuis Station Zuid has adopted this concept and uses its professional dance artists for the groundbreaking project further. The results are often amazing and very inspiring for active dance practice. For the amateur, this is a true business card!
On Sunday October 17th we have four groups from DansWerkPlaats Brabant workshop their first work moments with two of the choreographers of our Jong Zuid duets.
*Talkshop Zondagdans
