Awareness in Dance 2006
As Festival CEMENT occupies Tilburg, Danstraining Brabant offers a workshop during six mornings for professional dancers and teachers.
A week of classes designed to deepen the Awareness of what we do as we dance.
Awareness is a universal quality that transcends all dance techniques and is essential to all learning.
What will we do?
All Classes will start with Feldenkrais awareness through Movement“ and move directly into Ballet class on Monday Wednesday and Friday and Forsythe based improvisation on the other days.
We will explore how movement patterns present in Ballet can be expanded to provide the basis for improvisation.
Why is Awareness important?
Our movement patterns are present in whatever we do from sitting to standing to walking to dancing. We all have a unique way of moving which is our own. However much of what we do is habitual and for the most part we are not conscious of our habits.
The focus of the workshop will be on how we move when we dance so we can begin to move as we want.
This approach will directly address our potential to learn and grow through dancing.
